Tisha B’Av

Ninth of Av

Tisha B’Av means Ninth of Av.  Av is the fifth month of the Jewish sacred calendar, which begins with Nisan, the month in which Passover occurs.  The civil calendar begins with Tishri, which is the seventh month of the sacred calendar, in which the Feast of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, and the Feast of Tabernacles occur.

Tisha B’Av commemorates the destruction of both the first and second temples, as well as other events.  It is the second most solemn fast day in the modern Jewish calendar, after Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement).  It is considered to be the saddest day of the year, a day of misfortune and tragedy.

Replacement Theology

What is Replacement Theology?

Replacement Theology, which is also called Supersessionism, has been common throughout most of Church history and still exists today.  It is the false supposition that the Church has replaced or superseded Israel and the Jews in God’s purposes.  According to this theology, when the Church began, God forsook the Jews, because they did not accept Jesus as their Messiah and because they had a part in His death.

Under this doctrine, all of God’s promises, prophecies and blessings in the Old Testament now apply exclusively to the Church and no longer apply literally to Israel or the Jews.  Where the word “Israel” occurs in the Bible, it really means the Church, which is the true, spiritual Israel.  Consequently, all the verses referring to Israel returning to their land and dwelling there are seen as spiritual allegories for the blessings of the Church, and not as something to be literally fulfilled by the Jews and the nation of Israel.  However, the curses and distresses in the Bible (e.g. Deuteronomy 28:15-68) still do apply literally to the Jews, due to their role in the death of Christ.

May Prayer Focus

PART 1:     Celebrate the birth of the State of Israel;   the joy and the fulfilment of the promises to Abraham and our Faithful Covenant keeping God – as your heart is led.

PART 2:      SHIELDS OF THE LORD RAISED FOR ISRAEL AND JERUSALEM

The same enemies who started a war against the Declaration of Independence made on May 14, 1948, have never ceased their attacks on Israel to this day to destroy Israel.   Today in 2022 killing the innocent, threatening the people of God, even with nuclear weapons; seeking to surround Jerusalem; to turn the world against Israel in whatever way they can.

We intercede for Israel to the Captain of the Hosts of Heaven, Yeshua Ha Mashiach;

•             that the leaders and the people of Israel would cry out to their God who saves and keeps them.

•             a miracle for unity of Government, of God’s wisdom and for stability and freedom from fear and intimidation and oppression in these days.

•             protection and wisdom for the IDF leadership; Mossad to hear plans of the enemy.

•             comfort for the wives and children and communities for those murdered in terror attacks.

•             that in these times, the eyes of the Israeli people would be opened to see Yeshua and know who He is and turn and love Him.

•             prosperity and safety for Israel in every dimension and increase and restoration; and for salvation – the precious Blood of Yeshua – their King.

Happy are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD,

The shield of your help And the sword of your majesty!

Your enemies shall submit to you, And you shall tread down their high places.”

Deuteronomy 33:29

Behold, He who keeps Israel

Shall neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The LORD is your keeper;

The LORD is your shade at your right hand.

6 The sun shall not strike you by day,

Nor the moon by night.

Psalm 121: 4-6

For You are the glory of their strength,

And in Your favor our [a]horn is exalted.

18 For our shield belongs to the LORD,

And our king to the Holy One of Israel.

Psalm 89:17-18

But You, O LORD, shall endure forever,

And the remembrance of Your name to all generations.

13 You will arise and have mercy on Zion;

For the time to favor her,

Yes, the set time, has come.

Psalm 102:12-13
